Digital Painting at Gnomon: Week 6
PaintingThis week: canvas extension! Take a photo and paint a new section of it. NO CLONE TOOL ALLOWED! These are meant to be seen about three feet away from the monitor. Any closer and the illusion breaks down. The painted sections are on the right, just in case you were having trouble telling the difference 🙂

PaintingWe had to do a master copy this week. NO EYEDROPPER ALLOWED! I chose this architectural piece by John Singer Sargent, and I didn’t realize how much detail there was when I first started! I’d like to do a final detail pass to finish this off soon.

PaintingThis week we did a soft object still life. I spent much more time on this and was able to come out with something pretty!
We also did a one hour still life of some shoes in class. I felt myself getting faster at laying the basic shapes down.

PaintingThe assignment this week was a hard body still life. I was still getting used to painting in color, and I would have liked to spend more time on this! I learned a lot about basic technique here.
